The Diamond Stitch is a crochet pattern that creates a textured diamond-shaped design on your fabric. It’s achieved by using combinations of stitches that create a mesh-like pattern.

Instructions

Step 1

The fabric part of your pattern is made in SCs back and forth.
When you come to the part of your Diamond Stitch change colour and wrap your yarn around the hook twice.

Step 2

In the first row you will insert your hook around the stem of an SC and after that it will be inserted as shown on the picture. Wrap the yarn around your hook and pull back through.
You now have 4 loops on your hook.

Step 3

Wrap the yarn around your hook and pull through two loops – you now have 3 loops on your hook.
Wrap the yarn around your hook again and pull through two loops – you now have 2 loops on your hook.

Step 4

Wrap your yarn around your hook twice and insert your hook behind the stem of the next stitch. Wrap your yarn around the hook and pull it back through – you now have 5 loops on your hook.

Step 5

Wrap the yarn around your hook and pull through two loops – you now have 4 loops on your hook.
Wrap the yarn around your hook again and pull through two loops – you now have 3 loops on your hook.
Wrap your yarn around your hook and pull through all three loops closing the stitch.

Step 6

Wrap your yarn around your hook and pull through all three loops closing the stitch.

After finishing the row – turn and work a row of SCs – turn at the end and work another round with FPTRs, where each FPTR is worked in the stitch in the middle of the previous FPTRs. This is how you create the Diamond shape.
