Bucket hats have long been a versatile and timeless accessory in the world of fashion.
It was originally designed as practical headwear for outdoor activities, but nowadays they have evolved into a stylish and adaptable choice for everyone.
For me a bucket hat is essential during this sunny time and I just had to create a crocheted version of a such.
I wanted to make it suitable for both him and her, I really had to reign myself in and not go crazy with all sorts of cute stitches. After several different attempts, I finally decided on using the Herringbone Halfdouble Crochet.
This elegant stitch has a great definition and is a fantastic neutral base for any embellishments you might wish to add.

So now I think I have found the solution!
I keep the stitches simple – though that does not been basic… ie working in the backloop only or frontpost/backpost stitches.
Then I will choose a “masculine” colour. Since this is an individual choice, I find by using his favourite colour he is more inclined to loving it.
Top 5 items to make for him
– that are not scarves, mittens or hats
- Necktie
- Bowtie
- Beer Cozies
- Coasters
- Slippers
I have created a pattern for a crocheted necktie, which he actually liked! The simple twist to crochet in the backloop of a Single Crochet creates a beautiful texture and the sheen from the yarn provides a timeless elegance.
