- Crocheted Fruit Basket -

There are pro’s and con’s to both shopping locally and online. I do love to support local businesses and the service is always great. You get to see the actual colour of the yarn and feel the softness before purchase.
This is of course not possible with an online purchase. However more often than not there is a larger variety of yarns and the quality of the pictures have improved. This also means the colours are much like in reality. So far I have not been disappointed.
My last browse online resulted in me buying a ball of ribbon yarn from Katia just to try it out. I was not yet sure what to make, so I put it away till inspiration would come
Others have succeeded in making such wonderful baskets, so I thought I might give it a go… Starting off with single crochets in a circle to create the base.
To my surprise the project worked up quite quickly – one of the benefits of using a 12mm hook – so quickly I nearly forgot to take pictures!?

Back to the project at hand… I finished it with a crab stitch, and VOILÁ I have my very own fruit/bread basket or for anything really though I would not recommend it as storage for rice!?
If you are looking for a simple and quick weekend project this would be on my top 5 list!
