Bead stitch

The Bead Stitch is a fairly wide stitch, so whenever you incorporate it in a project, I would recommend using this only every other stitch – either skip a stitch or crochet a Double Crochet between each.

Instructions

Bead Stitch

Step 1

Begin as you would with a Double Crochet, so yarn over hook and insert your hook in the stitch below. Yarn over hook and pull through 2 loops, leaving 2 loops on your hook.

Step 2

Yarn over hook and insert your hook on the right side of your stitch moving around the back – yarn over hook and pull your hook back – now you have four loops on your hook.

Step 3

Repeat this step two more times and you will end up with eight loops on your hook.

Step 4

Yarn over hook and pull through all of the loops closing your stitch.

Due to the amount of loops you have at the same time on your hook, it can be a little tricky to work the stitch in the beginning. If possible use a hook that has a long shaft, as this will give you more space to work on compared to using a hook with a handle.

I hope that now that you know how to work this stitch, you will try to incorporate it in your future crochet projects. Below you can even find some patterns in which, I have used this stitch.
